KAIZER CHIEFS MARKET RESEARCH & COMPETITION PRIVACY NOTICE

1. Introduction & Responsible Party

This research is conducted for Kaizer Chiefs (Pty) Ltd (registration number 1997/019477/07) ("Kaizer Chiefs", "we", "us", "our"). Kaizer Chiefs is the Responsible Party for the personal information collected through this research and any associated prize draw.

This Privacy Notice applies to all personal information collected from you when participating in our market research surveys, focus groups, and associated promotional prize draws.

2. Purpose of Data Collection

  • Market Research: To conduct qualitative and quantitative research to better understand supporter needs, preferences, behaviours and perceptions.

  • Product & Service Development: The research may be used to help shape potential Kaizer Chiefs products, services, customer experiences, distribution approaches and communications.

  • Prize Draw Administration: To administer competition entries, verify participant eligibility (age 18+), select winners, and deliver prizes.

Strict Non-Marketing Guarantee: Information collected through this research will not be used to market or sell products or services to you as a result of your participation.

3. Personal Information We Collect

  • Survey Responses & Demographics: Your responses, age group, gender, province, household/dependent information, and other preferences provided through your answers.

  • Qualitative Recordings: Audio recordings during qualitative research sessions, subject to your explicit, separate consent.

  • Competition Details (only if you voluntarily enter the prize draw): name, surname, cellphone number and email address.

  • Verification Documents (only if you are selected as a potential winner): ID number or proof of identification, requested where necessary to verify your identity, age and eligibility.

4. Prize Draw / Competition Information

Entering the prize draw is voluntary and is not required to participate in the research. Information provided for competition entry will only be used to administer the competition, verify eligibility and contact potential winners - it will not be used for marketing or sales purposes.

5. How We Store, Share, and Protect Your Data

Your personal information is treated as confidential and processed securely. All personal information is sent and retrieved over encrypted channels using TLS, and we follow industry-standard information security practices.

Information will only be shared with parties or service providers where necessary to conduct the research, administer the competition, comply with legal requirements, or as otherwise permitted by law. All such parties are contractually bound to protect your personal information.

Research findings will be reported in an aggregated or anonymised format wherever reasonably possible, so that individual respondents cannot be identified.

Your personal information will never be sold to third parties.

6. Data Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the research objectives, complete competition administration, or comply with legal obligations. Thereafter, it will be securely deleted, destroyed, or de-identified as appropriate.

7. Your Rights Under POPIA

In terms of Sections 23 and 24 of POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you, and a record of which third parties have had access to it.

  • Correction: Request that incorrect, irrelevant, excessive, out-of-date, incomplete, or misleading information be corrected.

  • Objection & Deletion: Object to processing, or request the destruction or deletion of your personal information.

  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time, without penalty, by emailing info@kaizerchiefs.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
